AI Chat & Questions
Learn how DocuFeed finds answers in your documents and how to get the most out of it.
How the AI finds answers
When you ask a question, DocuFeed doesn't just search for keywords. Here's what happens behind the scenes:
- 1
Your question is analyzed
The AI understands the meaning of your question, not just the words.
- 2
Relevant sections are found
DocuFeed searches through your documents to find the most relevant passages.
- 3
An answer is composed
The AI reads the relevant sections and writes an answer in natural language.
- 4
Sources are cited
You'll see exactly which documents (and sometimes pages) the answer came from.
Understanding relevance scores
Each source citation shows a relevance score from 0% to 100%. This tells you how closely the source matches your question:
Using source citations
After each answer, you'll see the sources that were used. Each source shows:
- •Document name — which file the information came from
- •Page number — where in the document (when available)
- •Relevance score — how closely it matches your question
Tap any source to preview the document inline. You'll see the referenced page right within the chat — no need to leave the conversation. Tap again to open the full document viewer.
Chat navigation
DocuFeed shows you exactly what documents you're chatting with:
- 1
Breadcrumb navigation
When chatting within a subcategory (room), the header shows the path: Category > Room. Tap the category name to navigate back.
- 2
Scope banner
A banner at the top tells you whether you're chatting with just the current room or all documents in the parent category.
- 3
Quick access menu
Tap the menu icon to access Help documentation and Clear History options.
Question limits
Your subscription tier determines how many questions you can ask each month:
| Tier | Monthly Questions | Characters/Question |
|---|---|---|
| Trial | 25 | 500 |
| Lite | 50 | 1,000 |
| Starter | 150 | 2,000 |
| Pro | Unlimited | 5,000 |
| Unlimited | Unlimited | 10,000 |
Your usage counter resets at the beginning of each billing period. You can see your current usage in the chat interface.
Tips for better questions
- 1.
Be specific
Instead of "Tell me about my insurance", try "What's my deductible for emergency room visits?"
- 2.
Use natural language
Ask questions as you would ask a person. No need for special keywords or syntax.
- 3.
Ask follow-up questions
If the first answer isn't what you need, ask for clarification or more details.
- 4.
Check the sources
Always verify important information by tapping through to the original document.
- 5.
Ask about spreadsheet data
Excel and CSV files preserve their table structure, so you can ask questions like "What was the total in column B?" or "Compare rows 5 and 10."
Chat history
Your chat history is stored locally on your device:
- •The last 30 messages per category are saved
